Tonight, I’m going to go see the brand new Fantastic Beasts movie so I thought this would be the perfect time to come up with a Harry Potter inspired cocktail. Fantastic Beasts centers around Newt Scamander and just like Newt, I’m a proud Hufflepuff!

Hufflepuffs are patient, loyal, and hardworking. They live right by the kitchens and is the only house not to produce any dark wizards (hell yeah Hufflepuff)! The head of Hufflepuff is Professor Sprout who is also the head of the Herbology department. This is where the inspiration for my Hufflepuff inspired cocktail came from.

The Honey Badger is a variation of Bees Knees. Inspired by Herbology, I wanted something floral, so I used Hendricks Gin and St.Germain. Just like Hufflepuffs, bees are hardworking so I used honey syrup. Honey Badgers can be feisty so I wanted to use bitters, specifically Peychaurd’s bitters which are more floral than Angostura bitters. I rounded out the drink with lemon juice and garnished with a lemon twist to get that Hufflepuff yellow. This drink is light and floral and perfect for your next Harry Potter marathon!

Honey Badger

1 1/2oz – Hendrick’s Gin

1/2oz – St.Germain

3/4oz – Honey Syrup (mix just a little warm water with some honey)

3/4oz – Fresh Lemon Juice

3 dashes – Peychaurd’s Bitters

Combine ingredients in cocktails shaker, fill with ice, shake until cold and fine strain into a chilled coupe glass. Express lemon oils above drink and garnish with a lemon twist. Enjoy responsibly!
