Spiced Cherry Old Fashioned

A couple weeks ago, I had an engagement session with one of my couples in the Oregon District in Dayton. Afterwards, I had some rare alone time to do a little shopping at my two favorite stores; Luna’s and Heart Mercantile! At Heart, I spotted some Woodford Reserve Bitters and was instantly inspired by the Spiced Cherry Bitters! Spiced Cherry Manhattan or Old Fashioned anyone?

Kyle and I enjoy sharing an Old Fashioned together so I thought using my new bitters to add a cherry twist would be a great idea. As soon as I opened the bottle, I was hit with an amazing aroma and could of stood there smelling the bottle all day long! The bitters add just the right amount of cherry to the cocktail that you don’t necessarily need the splash of cherry juice but I, personally, loved the little extra cherry flavor and sweetness!

  • 3-4 Dashes of Spiced Cherry Bitters
  • 1/2oz Simple Syrup
  • 2oz Bourbon Whiskey
  • Splash of Cherry Juice
  • Ice
  • 2 Maraschino Cherries
  • Orange Peel

In an old fashioned cocktail glass, add the bitters, simple syrup, cherry juice, and bourbon. Fill glass with ice and stir for 10-15 seconds. Twist the orange peel over the cocktail to release the essential oils. Garnish this cocktail with the twisted orange peel and 2 maraschino cherries. Enjoy this fun take on an Old Fashioned!
